stone, wood and leather look

|
By houseofanais · September 24, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

Here's a lovely 70s remodel - calm and balanced, filled with light and very cozy due to the use of natural materials of stone and wood. The decor also looks very comfortable with leather chaise, a very soft-looking, inviting sofa and the relaxed, scattered placement of furniture. This is a winner in the cozy and comfortable -look category!

eclectic and rustic living room

How lovely is this room - very rustic and eclectic in style in white and natural brown shades. The owner for sure has done such a great job of preserving the old history and showcasing it in such interesting way!

down to earth and a bit eclectic too

Got to love this room - a bit eclectic, very earthly with the brick wall decorative tiles (I still got tons of those too waiting for some eternity project, but they do look goof for sure...), and just cool with cow-skin(?) rug and that world decal. I really like the vibes of this room!

I love the look of this living room - rustic and romantic and just so full of charm. At the same time it also looks contemporary and modern - simply put just a perfect revamped countryside hideaway!

open plan with modern splendour

What is not to love in this house if you are a fan of modern design. Open plan home with lots of height and seamless integration with the pool and outdoor living area. Splendid decor made of taupe, chocolate brown and eye-catching bright red.

I'd like to have that sofa area, and the dining table, the fun lounger, the fab knotted rug... and the list goes on. This house is modern design masterpiece with its great blend of comfy-looking pieces!

Black and white, sleek and simple. This living room cum dining area with high ceilings is filled with light and that Scandinavian chic theme. That stripy rug adds a fun and casual feeling to the room.

One can tell that this house has some bookworms as each comfy-looking armchair has spotlights for reading. What a nice space altogether!

traditional in a modern way

Somebody please find a house like this for us to rent (and furnished too with this sort of cool style). I am pretty sure something similar can be found on the market here, but sadly not in the area where we are looking for and now with the budget we got in hand.

So it's time to dream again, and this is just the right house for it - a traditional style but with a very modern flair, filled with light and with lots of height and open space. Just beautiful!

This lamp is really nice, it looks like some sort of upside-down vegetable

I see them in a real house (see my post yesterday), Zen-looking stone pillows. Looks great!

Great barstools and the island has a fun detail on the base

So soft and sweet, very girly without being pink. Definitely need to write down this colout and propose it to our future landlord!

Such a classic scene, but the design is quite modern

This bathroom is very natural and Zen. Like it!

A scee I love. Huge blackboard wall for the kids and Aarnio puppys. Colour and cuteness!

I've seen this life-size horse-lamp in a store. Someone actually has it in their home. Very bold, and you need a big space to house this. Bet this is not easily moved around though...

Oh wow. Beautiful design. My favourite space in this house

Very impressive entrance. Dark wood always looks good

funky flair in the living room

I am off to shopping today as I have a whole house to fill up. I have the Red Apple, Roche Bobois and few other places on my list today - and like before I am still going strong for the modern style, but with fun and eclectic vibes.

And today this living room is certainly giving me lots of inspiration, so wish me good luck in my "hunting" trip for cool and fun things!

charming blue and white the country way

|
By houseofanais · May 7, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

Delectable blue and white. Summer colours of deep blue sky and little white clouds. So country chic and fresh. I have always loved this Ikea daybed and it just looks fab teamed with Ralph Lauren accessories and rustic little pieces. There is a hint of romance and yesteryears.

Yes, I think I am looking back to my grandfather's house where there was a daybed too. It changes colours over the years but I remember it best as being orange or turquoise. Hard to sit on as it had no cushions, but still great to sleep on at nights when it was set up... Oh those memories this sweet picture is bringing back!

stylish city apartment with modern flair

By houseofanais · April 9, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

I came across this stylish city pad, and it is so lovely! White walls, dark floor boards and design classics mixed with eclectic finds. Oh, and a dash of that dark fuchsia just makes it all so attractive. I like this apartment - now where can I find one?

feeling grey - but in a positive way

By houseofanais · April 6, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

I fell in love with the grey walls in Restoration Hardware, and would definitely like to have a room or two at some point with a mellow and calming grey theme. This feature on using grey by Josh Taylor Designs is great, as it displays various shades of greys used in all different rooms. Definitely worth a tour!

soft and curvy modern

Not feeling grey but loving it, especially in this light, almost silver-like tone. How I am thinking that a place like would be so easy to keep clean and uncluttered! Such a fabulous modern, yet soft and curvy room and how gorgeous is that round fireplace - not to mention the translucent, hanging Aarnio chair...

spring pastels in living room

More on spring and Easter-like room inspiration coming up. This room is just the sweetest thing with those pastel paintings on the wall above the baby-blue camel-back sofa, rustic table and that stripy chair. And those twigs are just so Easter-like. So sweet!

eclectic inspirations in chocolate and cream

|
By houseofanais · March 25, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

There is something special in this chocolate and cream living room. A bit of a mix of modern and classic style and certainly somewhat eclectic too. The orange accessories remind me of the Hermes and that Louis Vuitton throw is just adorable. There is certainly some throw love in the air!

bookworm's creamy dreams

|
By houseofanais · March 21, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

Built-in bookcases and a comfy lounger creates a lovely little home library corner. This one is so fresh as instead of the traditional dark wood and dark leather, the whole tone is very creamy and light. I noted the absence of books, so maybe the intention wasn't really for a little home library, but still, the idea of an all-cream library has been planted in the mind and it's very tempting...

simple scandinavian living

|
By houseofanais · March 7, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

I'm still excited about the open, simple white Scandinavian living. Plain forms, some mid-century, some modern pieces, a touch of greenery and that high-ceiling white canvas. Very relaxing to look at! I like the little, unusual details such as what looks like grey sheepskin rug and those pendant lights that resemble large light bulbs.

feeling all cottage-y

By houseofanais · March 5, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

This warm and sunny weather is just making feel all summer cottage and fun stuff. Typical to little cottage this cute living room also has wood walls, vaulted and exposed ceiling and a lovely stone fireplace.

I also love the blue and white decor which has been softened with a natural sisal-type flooring. This fleur de lis fabric in armchairs also gives a bit of a romantic French-style twist to the room. Je l'aime!

that mix and match retro feel

|
By houseofanais · March 4, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

This living room cum dining room has that lovely 50s mix and match retro feel, especially what looks like one of those home-made rag rugs. It is cute mix of white, wood colour and black, and combined with large window of flowing light, the outcome is fun and pretty relaxing.

I love especially that collection of candlesticks and the lovely, lace-like pendant light. A cute room!

feeling tropical

Feeling a bit tropical, somewhat Indian and mid-century, and all the way thought to the last detail - including the flowers. Even the wood floor is exotic and colourful. This room is a joy to look at and tells a story of the owners and their travels around the world. I wish I could see what the rest of the house looks like...

photo wall love

This rather classic room has a beautiful photo wall display as the centrepiece of the room. The black and white scenes of nature give a great contrast to the otherwise rather beige room. other lovely details of the room that I really include the deep crown molding in the ceiling and that fantastic and so large area rug.

contrast of black and silver

By houseofanais · February 1, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

This living room is bold, vibrant and daring with its black and silver walls and furniture, which is softened with cute pink and plum accessories. Truly delicious I say (and much better than white leather and cream walls if you got kids...)!

modern brasilian design inspiration

|
By houseofanais · January 30, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

This Brazilian home is rather interesting as it is quite modern in design and materials, but there are quirky, oriental, French romantic pieces all happily mixed together in the decor. The overall colour scheme of this house is rather neutral, so the little bold accent pieces end up popping out really well.  A fun. funky and lived-in house rather than just a showpiece of designer furniture!

grey room inspirations

By houseofanais · January 22, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

It might be dull and grey outside today, but these grey-scales rooms are far away from dull. There is grey on walls, grey on floors, furniture, accessories - how fab are the grey knitted poufs! Grey is great bse colour and a calming accent colour on accessories.

One of my very first nice furniture purchases was a dark grey L-shaped sofa, which still lives with my youngest sister. In her living room the sofa got bright orange and cream walls to go with, chocolate and cream curtains and a bunch of orange and grey pillows I believe ( I have yet to see the finished room, but I was helping her to paint and pick decor for the flat last year). Currently our house has only grey in one bedding set, but it is a very nice set. I think the future house certainly deserves some more grey moments...

country cottage dream

Cute, a little bit old-fashioned, a little bit more romantic - this is a living room that is just so adorable! The natural grass carpeting is so cute and feels great on bare toes and I just adore older houses with high, ornate skirting and cute windows.

This house could be a nice hideaway in a mountain forest, the perfect little holiday cottage!
