It would be lovely to rent a beach house for the summer, and what better than the lovely East coast such as East Hamptons. A quick peek around and I found a lot of lovely traditional, as well as modern houses. But those price tags - just for July the first one on the list was $125 K, and some of them were on offer for year-round basis only. To up to $400K! Lovely - yes. Great location - yes (at least if you live in New York). Great weather - maybe.
That money could still buy you a little less extravagant house, say in Caribbean, Mediterranean - really in a lot of places. Anyway, what is your favourite of this selection?
1. Modern from the outside, classic white New England in the inside

2. A very modern and spectacular house, but I am missing the "seaside feeling"

3. An interior designer's bayfront house and it shows!

4. Picture-perfect exterior, but some rooms are rather empty...

5. Another designer home and it does feel rather cozy. Love the outdoor space

6. Picture-perfect exterior, seaside location, beautiful interior - although a bit empty time to time

...and the winner is one of the two seaside homes (3 and 6) - after all if you want a beach vacation, you should be right on the seaside... Besides the great location, the designer home is just superior when it comes to decor - at least I would not like bring all accessories with me to a summer rental, not would I like to stay in a near-empty house for several weeks.
